According to NCC news, the fifth international specialized training course of ECO Geomatics Committee started on August 7, 2023. This training course is titled “The role of cartography in optimal presentation of spatial and statistical information” and will continue until August 8, 2023. This educational course is held in the form of a webinar in English by Public Relations and International Affairs Department of NCC in cooperation with the ECO Secretariat and Cartography and National Atlases Department of NCC.

Javidaneh, the director general of NCC, in the opening speech of this training course, while welcoming the representatives of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member countries, stated that the country of Iran is self-sufficient in meeting its needs in the field of spatial information and announced: “The National Cartographic Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to export innovative technical-engineering services in the field of geospatial information abroad, and so far it has managed to hold four international specialized training courses for ECO members in the last 6 years.”

The director general of NCC continued by stating that this organization has held four specialized training courses in the field of Geomatics and spatial information between 2016 and 2022 based on the approvals of ECO Geomatics Committee, and stated: “Now we are proud to organize and hold the fifth international specialized training course of this committee in order to build capacity for the countries of the region.”

He further continued: “In line with the expansion of cooperation with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), NCC is planning to hold the third meeting of ECO heads of mapping organizations in September 2023 in person in Tehran at the location of the National Cartographic Center of Iran.”

At the end of his speech, while thanking the experts of NCC, especially Cartography and National Atlases Department, as well as Public Relations and International Affairs Department, for holding this international specialized training course, he expressed his hope that this training course will have satisfactory results in the direction of sustainable development in the countries of the region.

It is worth mentioning that representatives of more than five ECO member countries have participated in this training course.
