According to NCC report, quoted from the international cooperation and Engineering Services Export office of NCC, after the election of National Cartographic Center of Iran (NCC) as the sole representative of Iran in the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM), Mrs. Letizia Rossano, the director of the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM), met with the director general of NCC.

 

In this meeting, which was held in NCC at the request of the director of this center on Tuesday, March 07, 2023, Dr. Javidaneh, the director general of NCC, Dr. Karimi, the General Manager of  Supervision and Technical Control and Standards department of NCC, Dr. Madad, the General Manager of  Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) department of NCC, Dr. Saadat, General Manager of Geodesy and Land Surveying department of NCC and the  Head of Crisis Management Committee of NCC, Eng .Gol Mohammadi, Deputy General Manager of the Director’s Office, Public and International Relations and Eng. Moradian, Head of International Cooperation and Engineering Services Office from NCC, participated. Mrs. Letizia Rossano, director of the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM), Dr. Mohaghegh, the senior coordinator of APDIM, Dr. Shamsodini, the planner of APDIM, Mr. Daryaei, the international deputy of Iran Plan and Budget Organization, and Mr. Haji Mohammadi from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.

At the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Javidaneh while welcoming Ms. Rossano, the director of APDIM in her first appearance at NCC, spoke about the capability and readiness of NCC for international cooperation and the development of Iran's cooperation with APDIM. Emphasizing the good performance of the organization in the seventh meeting of the Council of Governors in Turkey and fulfilling the commitments made by the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said, referring to the internal meeting between government organizations involved in the issue of the crisis in NCC: “NCC on behalf of The Islamic Republic of Iran intends to expand its relations with APDIM and expects that this center can provide effective assistance to Iran in reducing the risk of disasters.”

 

In the following, Eng. Moradian, introducing NCC and various departments, pointed to the organization's 70-year history and said: “The international cooperation of the organization expanded last year and the organization participated in international forums such as UN-GGIM-AP, ECO and etc. NCC has a title, history and brilliant performance and is now ready to export engineering services to the countries of the region.

 

Then Dr. Saadat, referring to the organization's crisis management committee and six active working groups of this committee and pointed out the good performance of this committee in times of crisis and providing maps of floods, dust, etc. in the shortest possible time to the organizations involved in the crisis of Iran.

 

In the end, Mrs. Rossano, while thanking NCC and the very good and comprehensive presentations in the meeting by NCC experts, expressed her hope that NCC, as an ideal member of this organization, due to its high potential and brilliant experience in the field of map and spatial information, can play a prominent role in the Asia and Pacific region in the position of disaster risk reduction management.
