After the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from NCC:
Membership of NCC in Human Resources and Sustainable Development Committee of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO)
After the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of NCC to become a member of the human resources and sustainable development committee of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), with the presence of the organization's representative in the meeting of this committee in the 33rd meeting of the ECO Regional Planning Council, NCC was officially chosen as the member in this committee.

The thirty-third meeting of the ECO Regional Planning Committee (RPC) with the presence of members of the ECO member states in person/virtual (Hybrid) form from January 26-29, 2023 was held in the Secretariat of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). NCC's representative, in addition to participating in the meetings of the Energy, Mining and Environment Committee, also participated in the meeting of the ECO Human Resources and Sustainable Development Committee and presented the organization's points of view.
The establishment of the “Human Resources and Sustainable Development (HRSD)” Directorate at the Secretariat was first proposed under ECO-UNDP Capacity Building programme in 2003. After two years consultation process, it was finalized in 2005 effective from 1st January 2006.
HRSD Directorate is in charge of human resource development, social development, disaster risk reduction, drug control affairs, health, poverty alleviation, etc. as covered under “Sector F: Social Welfare and Environment” of the ECO Vision 2025. In this regard, the directorate has four main priority areas which are sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, health and education respectively.
Disaster risk reduction (DRR) is one of the most important priority areas to achieve SDGs. Thus, the 8th ECO Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (March 17, 2021) adopted the “ECO Regional Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction” and the “Roadmap of Implementing ECORFDRR (2021-2025)” and the Member States were encouraged to join the protocol on “Real-time Seismological Data” as proposed by the Republic of Turkey.
Over and above, education is the basic requirement to improve human resources to reach SDGs. Therefore, the directorate has been involved in numerous educational activities such as trainings, courses and workshops relevant to SDGs. In this context, the 2th training workshop on “Disaster Risk Transfer through Insurance” held on July 2022 sought to create a common understanding on disaster and climate risk among ECO member states, strengthen risk governance and resiliency on insurance, disaster and climate risk transfer through insurance.
Due to i70 years of experience of NCC in the field of mapping, spatial information and crisis management, NCC plays a significant role in issues related to Disaster Risk Reduction in the region.
