Presence of NCC Representative at 35th ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC) Meeting

At the 35th ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC) meeting, with the participation of the representative of National Cartographic Center of Iran, holding specialized meetings for member countries was approved and NCC of Iran was assigned as the focal point.

According to the Public Relations Department of the National Cartographic Center of Iran, quoted from the International Cooperation and Engineering Services Export Department, the 35th ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC) meeting was held from February 24th to 27th, 2025, with the participation of member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
 
Azadeh Aghamohammadi, Head of the International Cooperation and Engineering Services Export Department of National Cartographic Center of Iran, attended the meeting as Iran's representative. During the meeting, she presented the National Cartographic Center's plans and proposals for 2025.
 
One of the key decisions made at the meeting was the transformation of training courses into specialized sessions aimed at enhancing technical cooperation among member states. Additionally, the National Cartographic Center of Iran expressed its readiness to host the fourth ECO Geomatics Committee, as well as the third ECO Heads of Surveying and Mapping Organizations meeting for member states in 2025.
 
Furthermore, Iran's representative proposed hosting an international specialized session titled “Laying the Groundwork for the Implementation of the Global Statistical Geospatial Framework (GSGF) in the ECO Region”, which was approved to be held in the first half of next year.
 
Additionally, the representative of the National Cartographic Center of Iran at the ECO Committee for Human Resources and Sustainable Development proposed the first specialized session of this committee to be held under the title “Spatial Data and Information Management for Sustainable Economic Development”. This proposal received approval from the ECO Secretariat and member states to be held in the second half of next year.
 
National Cartographic Center of as an active member of the ECO Committee on Energy, Mining, and Environment, recently joined the ECO Committee for Human Resources and Sustainable Development. As the secretariat of the ECO Geomatics Committee, NCC has successfully organized several training courses in various Geomatics fields for ECO member states.
 
The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) region consists of 10 member states: Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Turkey, Turkmenistan and Republic of Uzbekistan. The organization aims to promote economic, cultural, and technical cooperation among its members.
