Representative of National Cartographic Center of Iran Presents Report on Working Group3 of UN-GGIM-AP in India

The representative of the National Cartographic Center of Iran participated in the thirteenth Plenary Meeting of the Regional Committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP) in India and presented the report on Working Group 3 of this committee.

According to NCC news, quoted from the International Cooperation and Engineering Services Export Office of NCC, following the official invitation to the representatives of the National Cartographic Center of Iran to attend the thirteenth Plenary Meeting of the Regional Committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP) in India, Mr. Ali Madd, General Manager of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) of the National Cartographic Center of Iran, participated in this international meeting on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 
This meeting, aimed at promoting and exchanging experiences and capacities of the member countries of the UN-GGIM-AP hosted by Survey of India (SOI) over four days from November 26 to 29, 2023, in New Delhi, India, with the presence of numerous experts and managers in the field of mapping and geospatial information from the Asia-Pacific countries.
 
Among several specialized meetings, a total of nine main sessions were held between various working groups of this committee, during which comprehensive reports on the capabilities of the national geospatial information infrastructure were presented by the representative of the National Cartographic Center of Iran. In his report, Mr. Ali Madad spoke about the connection of over 500 national and provincial devices and the sharing of more than 25,000 spatial layer services. He also presented the report on the successful integration of descriptive data from the National Rural Development Information Base with SDI spatial data through the implementation of the TJS standard service, which is related to the standards of Working Group 3. At the end of the meeting, issues for the 2025 agenda were proposed and determined by the representative of the National Cartographic Center of Iran from Working Group 3.
 
It should be noted that the chairs and members of the working groups are elected for three-year terms. In 2022, following active and successful participation in the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of UN-GGIM-AP, Mr. Ali Javidaneh, Director General of the National Cartographic Center of Iran, was elected as the chair of Working Group 3 on Integrating Geospatial Information and Statistics and also a member of the UN-GGIM-AP Executive Board, which indicated the member countries' confidence in our country's specialized and leadership capabilities in the field of mapping and geospatial information. Currently, the National Cartographic Center of Iran is the sole representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Regional Committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP).
